A Trip to Primary Children’s Hospital

July29

IMG 0063For the past week or so Jayden has been throwing up more. She would get up in the middle of the night and shout “I need to throw up!” Kip or I would run down to her room with a bowl and then we would sit with her until she stopped. She would then lay back down and go back to sleep. Keep in mind she is on a feeding machine at night so there is a lot to come out. Finally Kip and I decided we had had enough. I called her nurse at Primary Children’s Hospital CF Clinic and told her what is doing on. She talked to the doctor who said we needed to come in. So, I call around to find a babysitter so Kip wouldn’t have to take work off. Then I rushed to get all the kids breakfast, Jadyen on her vest machine, Caleb feed, all the kids dressed and then me in the shower. We made it on time. At the clinic they decide the new formula Jayden is on was too concentrated for her so we are switching again. They also took her off some meds and added a new one. She is also being tested for CDif again (a bad bacteria in her gut that she has had many times and it had to get rid of). Testing her for this means bringing in a poop sample. This is the first time we have had to do this since she has been potty trained. I let Kip take care of it. So, while we were there they weighed and measured her. She weighs in at 25 pounds 8 ounces (1 and 1/2 pounds heavier than June) and was a tiny bit taller. The doctor and nurses were shocked with her weight gain. She also had to have her electrolytes checked. This can be done with a finger poke or a blood draw. Well, since she had to get her blood drawn in September anyway we went ahead and did it yesterday. The guy doing it missed the first time and Jayden was not happy. Needless to say, by the time we got to the car she had her band aids off and was happy as could be. So, all went well last night with Jayden being back on the old formula. Jayden’s medical needs are so stressful, but at least for now we have them under control again.

Caleb’s Blessing Day!

July18

This past week has been so busy. It all started with Caleb’s Blessing. We had it last Saturday at our house. Kip’s Dad came that day. My mom was leaving early Sunday Morning so this was the only time it would work. It was fun to have it at our house. We have family and friends over. Caleb did great. He didn’t cry during his blessing which was amazimg since he cries all the time. Here are some cute picutres of him and our family.

Caleb is now over two months old. He went to the doctor this past Tuesday. He is doing great.

He weighed in at 12 pounds 10 ounces (above 50%)

His length was 23 3/4 inches (75%)

His head was 75% also.

He is a big boy and did great getting his shots. He only cried for a few seconds.

Last week my mom and I along with the kids went to the mall. While we were walking past Kiddie Kandids they stopped my mom who was pushing Caleb and asked to take some pictures of him. They turned out so cute.

Fireworks!

July10

July 4th means lots of fireworks. They are my favorite thing on this holiday. The kids tried sparklers this year. They were a little afraid at first, but by the time we ran out they we begging for more. Braxton liked to hold his sparkler through the fence so it won’t get close to him. Grandma and Papa came over to watch with us. We did fireworks around 7:30. I know, it wasn’t dark, but our kids go to bed around 8 and they had stayed up late the night before. We still had a great time!

Happy July 4th!!

July10

WOW!! I can’t believe we are already into July. Caleb is 2 months old and holding his own. He goes to the doctor next week. I am guessing he weighs about 13 pounds right now. So, what have we been up to so far this month. Kip and I decided to take the kids to Ogden for the 3rd and 4th of July. You might ask yourself what is in Ogden. Well, we went to the Dinosaur Park there and also the Children’s Treehouse Museum. The kids loved the museum and we picked a good time to because it wasn’t very busy. Around town there were painted horses that the kids loved to name. Our hotel was right next to a park and walking right out onto downtown. The best part about the hotel for the kids was they could jump on the beds. We also stopped by the Hill Air Force Base Museum. We didn’t have a lot of time and plan to go back. We had a great time as a family and hope to go back again this year sometime. Here are some great pictures of our vacation.

What have we been up to???

July9

Okay, so there are tons of things we have been doing that I haven’t blogged about. I have decided to tell it all now.

June was a busy month and I didn’t get everything blogged that I wanted to. We took the kids to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens for FHE one Monday. They love to roll down the big hill and splash in the water at the Secret Garden. They had tons of fun. Here are a few picutres from that. I know it is not a great picture of Braxton, but this was the first time he tried to roll down the hill by himself. He usually asks Kip to help him. He had the biggest smile on his face the entire time.

Something else we did in June was take the kids to Krispy Kreme. I had been craving doughnuts for a while and finally I decided one night we were going. The kids had never been to see how the doughnuts we cooked and glazed. They loved watching them and then they enjoyed eating them. When we went they were doing berry doughnuts and they were either pink, purple, or red on top. Sage is in love with pink so she picked a pink doughnut and Braxton chose a purple one since that is his favorite. Jayden just wanted a plain one.

One day in June the kids were playing outside on the slides. I am not sure if we should call them slides anymore or just a jungle gym toy. The kids love to tip over the slide and pretend they are a castle or a look out point, a ship or anything else that comes to mind. They like to say they are stuck and have help being resuced by someone. All three kids have great imaginations and play pretty well together. It is just fun to see them interact and think of things to do. The kids also love to play baseball although we use a bigger ball so they can actually hit it, but they have a lot of fun.

Next on our list of things we did in June was Oremfest. The kids loved watching the parade. We think their favorite part was the candy. We brought our own candy and threw it at them. We sit at the end of the parade and by then there is no candy left and the kids are always dissapointed, so this year they had plenty to eat. Jayden found a sucker and ate the whole thing which is amazing for her since she doesn’t really care for candy and still doesn’t eat that much. We also stayed and watch the fireworks. While waiting on our blankets we brought glow sticks with us to entertain the kids with. We invited some friends we hadn’t seen in a while to join us. Sage still talks about Emily being her best friend even though she met and played with her for the first time at Oremfest.

That about covers everything I hadn’t blogged about that happened in June.
