My Oldest is Now 5!!!!

Sage turned 5 years old on Saturday. She has been so excited about being older for the past 5 months that she has asked almost every day, “How much longer until my birthday?” If I said three months she would say “How long is that?” We have been counting down from about 35 days. The morning of her birthday she got out of bed and found me in the office. She sat there for a minute and then said “I am five, today is my birthday.” We talked for a few minutes and then she said “I am going to listen to you better mom. Five year olds listen better than 4 year olds.” I told her that would be great, but reality set in a few minutes later when she wasn’t listening to me. Too bad. Short lived dream still in dreamland instead of reality.
For Sage’s birthday she choose a Beach Party. We had lots of fun planning it and thinking of all the fun games we could play. Everything was ready to go except the cupcakes and her family birthday cake. She has wanted a Unicorn cake for the past 3 months and I had no idea what I was going to do. My mom however decided to search google for so great ideas.
She found some and we thought it wouldn’t be too hard to make. She also found a great idea for cupcakes. Thanks mom for helping get them all ready.
Sage had so much fun at her party. We had her friends come and play games including “Duck, Duck, Goose”, which is Sage’s favorite, decorate visors, have a water fight with squirt guns, eat cupcakes, open presents, and bounce on the famous “Castle”. The kids all had a great time and Sage loved it.
Saturday evening Sage picked where we should go to dinner. She chose her favorite restaurant which is Denny’s. Well, on Saturday nights kids eat free so even better!! After dinner we headed home to open the present from us and Grandma. Sage has wanted a camera since October of last year. We found a great deal on one at Costco around Christmas although we decided not to get it yet. The price dropped in January and then went even lower in February so we took advantage of it then.
After she opened it and Kip put the batteries in she has played with it non-stop. All the kids love it and want to share although Sage has a hard time. No, big deal since it is hers. Grandma gave Sage a Cinderella Tea Party set and some snacks to go along with it. Her and Jayden have had lots of fun setting up all the plates, drinking and eating pretend cookies. Jayden loves the tea party and Sage enjoys sharing it since there are lots of pieces.
Overall, Sage had a great birthday and she is already talking about when she will be six. Kip and I still can’t believe she is five.
